How and when can I view the centre?

At Kids on the Rise we understand that choosing the right Childcare for your little one is not an easy decision. We encourage families to call the centre to book a time for a tour to ensure that one of our members of management is here to show you around and answer any questions you may have. However if you are unable to make a booking please feel free to pop past and we will do our best to accommodate a tour.

How do I put my child on the waiting list? Can I put my unborn child on the waiting list?

There are a number of ways to place your child on the waiting list. You are able to come in for a tour and fill out the waiting list form while you are here. You can download a copy of our waiting list form from our website, or you can call and request a wait list form to be emailed directly to you. We are unable to place your child on the waiting list until they are born.

How long is your waiting list?

We don’t have a time frame on our waiting lists. The waiting time would depend on a number of things such as which days you require and when you are hoping to start childcare.

What are your opening hours?

Kids on the Rise is open Monday through to Friday from 6.30am until 6.30pm.

Are you open public holidays?

Kids on the Rise is closed all public holidays. Unfortunately fees are charged as normal on these days as it is your permanent booking.

When does your Centre Close?

We are closed on public holidays and over the Christmas and Near Year period. Parents at the Centre will be advised in advance of the dates of closure over the Christmas period each year. During this time families are not charged.

What does the daily fee include?

The daily fee includes meals from breakfast until a late snack, nappies, wipes, sunscreen and a variety of milk.

Am I eligible for the Childcare Benefit or Childcare Rebate?

Child Care Rebate and Childcare Benefit vary from family to family and are determined by the Government based on each families circumstances. We encourage you to contact Centrelink for more information before your child begins childcare.

What is a Customer Reference Number (CRN)?

A Customer Reference Number is obtained from Centerlink and is required for you to receive any Childcare Benefit and or Childcare Rebate. You will receive two CRN numbers, one for you and one for your child. These combinations will be 9 digits and 1 letter long. You will need to provide these combinations to the centre on your Enrolment form.

Is there a minimum of days I can book for my child?

We don’t have a minimum number of days that you can attend. Although for some children coming more than once a week can help with the settling process.

How and when do I pay the Centre fees?

All fees are paid either via credit card or direct debit via EziDebit. Families choose which day of the week they would like their payments to come out and whether they pay weekly or fortnightly.

What do I need to bring each day?

As meals and nappies are provided, you only need to bring changes of clothes and a SunSmart hat for the warmer seasons and a coat and beanie for winter.

Nappy creams, bottles, formula/breast milk and comfort items if required.

Are your Educators qualified?

All of our friendly Educators have or are working towards, a Certificate 3 in Children’s Services, a Diploma in Children’s Services or a Bachelor Degree (kinder teacher). Both of our Cook’s also hold food handling certificates.

Do your Educators Working With Children Checks?

Yes. All Educators are required by law to have a Working With Children’s Check card. Our management ensures that all Working With Children’s Checks are revised every twice a year.

What is your centre Educator to child ratio?

In Victoria the Child to Educator ratio is:

  • Educator for every 4 children that are under 3 years of age.
  • 1 Educator for every 11 children that are over 3 years of age.
  • We ensure that our ratios are met at all times both inside and outside.

Are your Educators permanent or casual?

We understand the importance of having familiar Educators for your children to form bonds with. At Kids on the Rise we ensure that the Educators in your child’s room will be the same each week. We have our own pool of relievers that we use to cover when our Educators go on annual leave, or are unwell so you will always know who is looking after your child for the day.

Can we do an orientation session before commencing care?

We strongly encourage that all children have at least one orientation session before commencing care with us. Depending on your child will depend on how many orientation sessions they will need with us.

Are the meals prepared at the centre?

Yes all meals apart from breakfast, are prepared at the centre by 2 cooks. We provide breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a late snack.

Kids on the Rise has a ‘No food from home’ Policy. We have a very well stocked pantry to cater for all dietary requirements.

What happens if my child is unwell?

If your child is unwell, then we ask you to keep them home to help them recover and to help stop the spread of illness to others. If your child becomes unwell while at the centre, we will contact you to come and collect them for the day. Depending on the illness will depend on how long the exclusion period is and whether you will need to provide a clearance certificate or not.

Fees are still charged for sick days.

When do the children play outside?

Depending on the weather will depend on when the children go outside. The rooms run an indoor-outdoor program whenever possible to give the children the choice of where they wish to play. The children are not taken outside when the UV levels are 9 and above or when the temperature is above 30 degrees.

Do all children sleep at the centre?

We offer sleep/rest times during the day in all rooms as we understand that some children may need to rest during the day. We don’t force children to sleep if they do not wish to.

In our babies room we follow your routine at home as best we can.

If I am unable to collect my child, what do I do?

If you are unable to collect your child by 6.30pm we ask you to make other arrangements for someone to collect your child. If someone other than the child’s parents is picking up your child we ask that you call and notify the centre of who is coming to collect. This person will need to bring some form of photo identification to prove who they are. Unfortunately if they do not have this they will be unable to collect your child.
